With each project comes a deep plan derived from experience in circumstances. With the Tenacity project, a bent shaft led us to rebuild the vessel’s entire drivetrain with the intention of bringing the vessel back to her manufacturer rated performance. Reaching a speed of 36 knots would be considered a success. Our estimations were wrong.
What followed was a welcomed surprise of +5 knots of top end speed coupled with a buttery-smooth ride. To get this outcome, we went as far up the drivetrain as replacing the stern tubes and checking motor mounts; excessive for the reported symptoms but worth every penny at project’s conclusion. Tenacity is now the fastest reported VanDutch 40 from its first generation, and rivals some of its 2nd generation vessels.
Beyond performance, the vessel saw upgrades to its electrical system, thrusters, fit and finish, and sound. Tenacity has since seen continued upgrades and is unrecognizable from its past self.
