3 Favorite “Wow” Production Features of the Vanquish VQ55
It’s The Little Things That Justify The Big Price Tag.
This past Friday, I spent the day with Vanquish head Tom Steenjes, touring one of his new Vanquish VQ55 models. Admittedly, I was biased against Vanquish for years, but hopping on the 55 with Tom erased whatever bias I had left in the tank. One full tour around the cockpit and you understand the price tag. All the little things you wish a boat had, the VQ55 has. Wherever you wish your boat was built better, the VQ55 already is. And this memorable quality isn’t amongst meaningless factory-forced features. You can tell these are consumer-generated meaningful things to make your day better.
3 VQ55 Features That Stuck With Me
#1: MAGNETIC FUEL FILL DOOR
It’s not that the door has magnets, its that the magnetics are under the paint, invisible to the user. Builders who even take the time to add the magnet (many do not) would just glue them in place. Vanquish goes a step further for a premium finish.
#2: IMMOVABLE PASSERELLE
If your boarding passerelle is like most, it has a little “give” when you walk on it. The VQ55 passerelle had 0, and I mean 0. I walked to the edge of the passerelle just to see when it would finally dip. It didn’t.
#3: HIDDEN WIND DEFLECTORS
At 60+ knots it can get breezy in the cockpit. Fishing boats are known to have wind deflectors—hidden panels extending from the console to deflect incoming air from the bow. Vanquish takes from their sportfish experience and added these panels on electric actuators controlled from the helm.
